How to paste HTML into Webflow
Updated 8 October 2026
Webflow cannot import an HTML file as elements that you can edit. You have 3 options. Option 1: paste the code into an Embed element. This method is fast, but you cannot edit the code in the Designer. Option 2: make the section again by hand. You can edit the result, but this method is slow. Option 3: use a converter, for example FlowPaste, and press ⌘V or Ctrl+V. This method is fast, and you can edit the result.
Option 1: the Embed element
Drag an Embed (Code Embed) element onto the canvas. Paste your HTML, CSS and JavaScript into the Embed. Then save. The published site runs the code exactly as you wrote it.
- Use an Embed for widgets, third-party scripts and code that you will not edit again.
- The Style panel cannot show the code in an Embed. Clients who edit the site cannot see or change it.
- To add or edit an Embed, you must have a paid Webflow plan.
Option 2: make the section again by hand
Add each section, div, heading and link yourself. Then copy each CSS value into the Style panel for each breakpoint. The result is clean. But 1 typical section of a landing page takes 30 to 90 minutes.
Option 3: convert the code to native Webflow elements
The Designer accepts Webflow elements from the clipboard. A converter writes your HTML and CSS in that clipboard format. When you paste, the Designer adds real elements and classes.
- Install FlowPaste. Open your site in the Designer.
- Click the FlowPaste button to open the panel.
- Paste your HTML into the panel. Include the <style> tag and the <script> tag.
- Click Convert & copy.
- On the canvas, select the location for the section.
- Press ⌘V or Ctrl+V.

Questions
Can I upload an HTML file to Webflow?
No, Webflow cannot import an HTML file as pages that you can edit. Webflow imports CSV files into the CMS and files in the Webflow export format. To add HTML, use an Embed or convert the HTML to native elements.
Does pasted HTML keep my classes?
Yes, if you use a converter. FlowPaste keeps your class names. If a class with the same name exists with different styles, Webflow adds the suffix -2.
