At a glance
- Steps
- Copy to Webflow on Same's App preview → ⌘V (Ctrl+V) in the Webflow Designer.
- What Same makes
- Next.js apps by default (React, TypeScript), from a prompt, a screenshot, or a URL it visits and clones.
- Same's own export
- Download the project as a .zip (paid Same plans) or push it to GitHub. Webflow imports neither.
- Already own the site?
- You don't need Same to move it. Capture the full page with FlowPaste straight from the live site.
- Not carried over
- Next.js routing, API routes, databases (Neon, Supabase), Clerk logins. Each page is copied as it looks.
- Ownership
- Clone and move only sites you own or have permission to use. Replace text, images and logos you don't have rights to.
- Plan
- Each copy counts as a capture: 3 a day on FlowPaste Free, unlimited on Pro.
What Same is good at, and why Webflow can't open it
Same (same.new) is an AI app builder best known for one starting point: paste a URL and Same visits the site and generates a clone. You can also start from a screenshot, a mockup or a plain description, then refine the result in chat or by selecting elements in the App tab. Under the hood Same writes a Next.js project, so the frontend and backend live in one codebase with React, TypeScript and API routes.
Webflow can't import a Next.js project, a .zip or a GitHub repo. Its Help Center calls any move into Webflow "a rebuild, not a transfer", and code import is still an open request on the Webflow Wishlist. Same's own docs are frank about the same problem with WordPress: you can't transfer a Same project directly, because the two systems are built differently.
What both tools agree on is the rendered page. Same's preview shows the finished design; FlowPaste copies it from there. FlowPaste reads the page the way your browser shows it: the elements, every CSS rule that applies to them, the media queries and the hover states. It then writes Webflow's own clipboard format, so ⌘V (Ctrl+V) in the Designer creates real elements with named classes.
One honest point before you start: if the site you want in Webflow is already yours and already live, cloning it in Same first adds a step and a chance for small differences. FlowPaste can copy the live page directly. Same earns its place when you want to change the design on the way: restyle it, rewrite sections, or merge ideas from a screenshot, then move the result.
Ways to do it, compared
| Method | Editable in Webflow | Responsive | Time for one page | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Download the code or ask Same for plain HTML, then Convert | Yes | Yes | 10–20 minutes | When you want to read the code first (download needs a paid Same plan) |
| Skip Same: Capture the full page from your live site | Yes: native elements and classes | Yes | Under a minute per page | Moving a site you own without changing it |
| Rebuild by hand in the Designer | Yes | Yes, if you build it | 2–6 hours | Small pages, or a full redesign |
| Hire a freelancer to rebuild | Yes | Yes | Days | Whole sites when you have budget (from about $80 a page) |
| FlowPaste: Copy to Webflow on Same's preview | Yes: native elements and classes | Yes: breakpoints mapped | Under a minute per page | A Same project you've redesigned or built from a prompt |
Same's download is a .zip of the Next.js project. Its pricing docs list project download on Basic and above.
How to copy a Same project into Webflow
Time: about 2 minutes per page. You need: the FlowPaste Chrome extension, your project open in Same, a Webflow site open in the Designer.
Check you have the rights to the design
If the project started as a clone of someone else's site, stop here unless you have their permission. If it's your own site or your own design, carry on.
Open the project in Same
Open the project and wait for it to finish starting up, so the App preview shows the page.
TipInstalled or updated FlowPaste just now? Reload the Same tab so the button can appear.
Go to the page you want and set its state
Navigate the preview to the page you want to move. Close menus, accept or close cookie notices the clone brought along, and pick the first tab of any tab group.
Click Copy to Webflow
The button sits at the bottom right of the live preview. The main click copies the whole page, every section in order.
TipFor one part, use the arrow menu → Pick a section. Hover, press ↑ for a bigger area, and click.
Paste in the Webflow Designer
Select the Body or the element to paste into and press ⌘V (Ctrl+V). The sections arrive in order as native elements with named classes.
Fix fonts, images and breakpoints
Add the fonts FlowPaste lists in Site settings → Fonts, connect your site for image uploads, and click through tablet and mobile.
What comes across
| In Same | In Webflow | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Next.js pages (routes) | One Webflow page per route | Copy each page separately; links need updating |
| React components (header, footer, cards) | Elements with shared classes | Turn the header and footer into Webflow Components |
| Tailwind utilities, if the project uses them | Classes named from structure (hero-heading) | No utility soup |
| Responsive rules | Tablet, mobile landscape, mobile portrait | Other widths snap to the nearest breakpoint |
| Hover and focus styles | Hover and Focus states | |
| Contact forms | Webflow Form Block | Submissions go to Webflow, not Same's backend |
| Fade-in-on-scroll reveals | A small scroll animation script | Kept so the page still reveals on scroll |
| Inline SVG icons and logos | Embed elements | Editing needs a paid site plan |
| API routes, Neon or Supabase data, Clerk auth | Not carried over | Keep them in Same or rebuild with Webflow's CMS and apps |
Problems and fixes
I don't see the Copy to Webflow button
Reload the Same tab after installing or updating FlowPaste, and wait for the project to finish starting. The preview must be at least 320 × 220 px; make the chat panel narrower if it's smaller.
The clone looks different from the original site
That happens inside Same, before FlowPaste. FlowPaste copies what Same's preview shows. If you own the original site and want it exactly, capture the live site with FlowPaste instead.
Images point to the original website
A clone can still load its images from the original website. Connect your site in FlowPaste → Account → Webflow images so the paste uploads them to Assets, and replace any image you don't have rights to.
A deployed Same site has no button
If your project is deployed on your own Netlify site or a custom domain, open it and use the FlowPaste icon → Capture the full page.
Pages behind a Clerk login are blank or redirect
Log in to the app in the same browser first, then copy. Only the design comes across; the login itself stays in Same.
Cloning, ownership and a clean move to Webflow
Cloning is a legal question as much as a technical one. This is not legal advice, but the basics are simple.
- Your own site: go straight to Webflow. Moving your own site off WordPress, Wix or a custom build? FlowPaste can capture the live pages directly. Use Same only if you want to redesign along the way.
- Someone else's site: inspiration, not a copy. The US Copyright Office says original authorship on a website may be protected, while ideas, systems and methods are not. Use a clone to study structure, then replace all text, photos, illustrations and logos with your own before you publish.
- Never reuse brand marks. Logos, product names and brand artwork belong to their owners. A site that looks like another company's can also confuse visitors, which can raise trademark issues as well as copyright ones.
- Keep the app part in Same. If your Same project is a real app with logins and data, keep it on its own deployment and move only the marketing pages: www.example.com on Webflow, app.example.com on the Same build.
- Set redirects. If the old site lived on the same domain, add 301 redirects in Webflow for every URL that changes before you switch DNS.
After you paste
- Add the fonts in Webflow → Site settings → Fonts. FlowPaste lists them in the notes after each conversion. Until then, text that brought its own font file still shows correctly, but you can't pick the font in the Typography panel.
- Images: Webflow publishes images only from its own Assets. Connect your site once in FlowPaste → Account → Webflow images, and every paste uploads its images for you. Without it, images show in the Designer but break on the published site.
- Click through tablet, mobile landscape and mobile portrait in the Designer. Media queries are already mapped to those breakpoints; check anything the notes marked as "snapped".
- Rename or merge classes where you want your own system. Identical styles already share one class; variations are combo classes.
- Replace every text block, image and logo you don't own or have permission to use.
- Update links between pages: Next.js routes don't carry over, so set each link to its Webflow page.
- Publish to your webflow.io staging domain and check animations and scripts there. Scroll-triggered Interactions don't always play inside Designer Preview.
Questions
Can I export Same code to Webflow?
Not as code. Same downloads a Next.js project as a .zip (paid plans) or pushes it to GitHub, and Webflow imports neither. FlowPaste copies the rendered page from Same's preview and pastes it as native Webflow elements.
Can I clone a website with Same and then move it to Webflow?
Technically yes: Same clones a URL, then FlowPaste copies the result into Webflow. Only do this with sites you own or have permission to use. If it's your own live site, capture it with FlowPaste directly and skip the clone.
Is it legal to clone a website?
It depends on what you copy and what you do with it. Ideas and layout methods aren't protected by copyright, but original text, photos, artwork and logos can be. Use your own content and branding, and ask a lawyer if the stakes are real.
Will my Same app work in Webflow?
The design will. Next.js API routes, databases such as Neon or Supabase, Clerk logins and payments don't move. Keep the app on its own deployment and use Webflow for the marketing pages.
Can I use a screenshot in Same instead of cloning a URL?
Yes. Same can build a project from a screenshot or mockup. That's a good route for your own Figma or mockup images: let Same build the page, adjust it in chat, then copy it into Webflow with Copy to Webflow.
Do I need a paid Same plan?
Not for FlowPaste: the button works on the preview in the editor. Same's own project download needs a paid plan.
Why does the Webflow version differ slightly from the original site I cloned?
Same rebuilds the site with AI, so the clone can differ from the source. FlowPaste copies Same's preview faithfully, including those differences. Capture the original instead if you own it.
